Your favourite retailer might be scamming you!

In line with the #Scamtember Challenge, my first post for September will be about a scam that I experienced or should I say noticed.

Over the weekend after the President announcing that the country is going down to Level 2, my husband and I decided to visit my in-laws who live in another town. I hadn’t done my groceries yet so I decided to do it there.

Knowing well that my preferred supermarket had running specials I decided to pop it the supermarket’s branch in their town. I walk up and down the aisles and to my surprise the prices they had in my town were totally different (they were much higher) compered to what they had there, FOR THE SAME PRODUCTS.

IMAGINE THAT!

I know someone out there is going to tell me about being different markets and all that but let’s be honest why am I paying more for the same product based on where I live? Just because I live there doesn’t mean I earn more, I need my money to stretch too!

This is a major retailer, one of the biggest in the country. It’s not a franchise that we may think that price differences are due to difference in owners. Neither are the price differences minor, for someone with a family in these times, every rand counts.

So next time you visit someone, double check your retailer’s prices, you might save a buck or two in another town.
